The door is gradually opening in some scientific areas (e.g., plos.org). Your blog rules, plus the resource - http://ioatwork.typepad.com/ is a workaround with potential.

On the gripe about not having organizational awards, I believe there are some decent evaluation systems out there (e.g., Baldridge, Deming Prize). Not I/O enough? One caveat about such awards is the games played between organizations and the examiners - for example, making the org look better than reality (in it for the PR factor), or examiners giving convoluted feedback that shows off their pretentious terminology.

On SHRM, have they ever been about research? SHRM has always seemed about making profit (have you seen what a typical SHRM conference costs?). I never expected more.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33750400.post-75417302857470435262011-03-20T13:12:29.667-07:002011-03-20T13:12:29.667-07:00Thanks, Brandy. They certainly aren't responsible for ensuring that organizations staff their HR departments with competent people. And they're in a bit of a hard spot given their dual purpose. But they ARE responsible, as the largest research organization devoted to the study of people at work, for doing everything they can to make sure people understand the science.BryanBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00254854039712516086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33750400.post-28759093892333406672011-03-20T12:05:53.614-07:002011-03-20T12:05:53.614-07:00Brilliant, truly. Maybe we should start a movement where this gets mailed to SIOP in bulk every day until they implement something from it.Brandy A.
